frequently asked questions

QUESTION/ANSWER

What is Disney Cruise Line?

Disney Cruise Line is where classic cruising meets Disney magic. You get all the good stuff you expect on a cruise — great food, fun entertainment, and amazing destinations — but with beloved characters, storytelling moments, and activities for every age.

Who is Disney Cruise Line best for?

Disney cruises are perfect for:

  • Families with kids (of course!)

  • Multigenerational crews

  • Adults who love great service, entertainment, and fun vibes

And honestly? Even adults traveling without kids can have an amazing time — especially on longer sailings with plenty of chill activities.

Is a Disney cruise good for first-time cruisers?

Yes. Disney Cruise Line is especially well-suited for first-time cruisers because the experience is highly organized, easy to navigate, and designed to make you feel confident (even if you’ve never set foot on a ship before). If you want smooth sailing without decision overwhelm, this is it.

Is a Disney cruise worth the cost?

For many families, yes. When you compare what you get versus other cruises, many folks walk away feeling like the value was excellent. The quality of the experience matches the price tag.

What makes Disney Cruise Line different from other cruise lines?

You get immersive kids’ clubs, themed lounges and dining rooms, Broadway-style shows, and character experiences that actually feel special — plus adult-only spaces for when you want a breather. It’s family-first without feeling chaotic.

What is included in the price of a Disney cruise?

Here’s what your fare usually covers:

  • Your stateroom

  • Most meals (main dining restaurants, buffets & quick bites)

  • Broadway-style shows, deck parties, pools

  • Kids’ clubs & supervised activities

Loads of onboard fun — with no extra charge

Are gratuities included on Disney Cruise Line?

No, gratuities aren’t included in the cruise fare. They’re automatically added to your onboard account, but we recommend you prepay them for ease.

Is food included on a Disney cruise?

Adult-exclusive restaurants are available at an extra cost.

What is the best age for a Disney cruise?

There’s no wrong age — but many families find cruising especially joyful when kids are preschool and up, so they (1) can fully participate in clubs and activities, and (2) are fully potty trained and can swim in the pools. Babies are welcome too, but keep in mind that the nursery costs extra and children must be fully potty trained to use the pools onboard.

What costs extra on a Disney cruise?

Some things you might want to budget for:

  • Alcoholic drinks

  • Adult-exclusive restaurants

  • Spa treatments

  • Shore excursions

  • WiFi

  • Nursery care for littles

  • Other signature onboard experiences

Are there activities for toddlers and babies on Disney cruises?

Yes! There are splash zones, family-friendly events, and dedicated spaces for littles.

Nursery services are available for the tiniest cruisers for an extra cost.

Are there things for teens to do on Disney Cruise Line?

Absolutely. Disney knows teens and tweens need their own space so they created Edge (for tweens ages 11-14) and Vibe (for teens ages 14-17). Each has their own dedicated lounge with games, activities, and hangout spots just for them. There’s even The Hideaway, designed for older teens and young adults (ages 18-20), on all three ships in the Wish Class.

What types of staterooms are available on Disney Cruise Line?

Disney Cruise Line offers inside, oceanview, verandah, and concierge-level staterooms. Most staterooms are designed with families in mind and include split bathrooms for added convenience.

Absolutely! There are adult-only pools, lounges, restaurants, and peaceful spots to relax. You’ll still get top-tier entertainment, service, and destinations — all with a more grown-up energy when you want it.

Are Disney cruise staterooms family-friendly?

Yes! These rooms are designed to fit families comfortably with thoughtful touches like split bathrooms and plenty of storage.
